Hair Removal
IPL of Hairgenic penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the melanin (Rejuvenation) in the hair. This absorption heats the hair and the heat is transmitted to the nourishment structure of the hair: the follicle. This results in it being heated to a temperature of 70°C for a millisecond and it is thus killed. Hundreds of hair follicles are destroyed by each flash; the hairs then fall out in one to two weeks.
Hair life cycle
Hair growth is cyclical as hair follicles go through resting and growing phases. Only follicles in the growth phase and are destroyed by the heat. Resting hair follicles need to enter the growth phase before they can be destroyed by the IPL treatment. It is, therefore, necessary to repeat the treatment at intervals until hair follicles have been through the growth phase. The length and timing of the growth cycles and the treatment are affected by numerous factors such as body site, hair density and thickness, ethnic origin or skin type, hormonal status and age.
